Category 4, Hurricane Irene is about to blow through Grand Bahama Island later this week. To all my friends (who I consider family), stay strong and safe. I cannot even find flights for anyone off the island since there are only 3 carriers… sold out.
If you have ever been to my island, it’s so quaint and fragile. I hope all the people and the potcakes will be ok. So sad right now. I love you GBI.

Regional air operating hurricane evacuation flights between Freeport and ft lauderdale Hollywood international airport. $260 one way or $290 round trip . Flights will operate up to Thursday morning.

i’m glad to say since my post, Hurricane Irene is not a Cat 3. Churches and shelters on GBI will be open starting Thursday evening. Most supermarkets are now out of food, water and necessities. Still not sure when other container ships will be in.
